Website consultant
June 22nd, 2009
As a website consultant I find that there is almost always a huge “elephant” in the corner of every website.
What’s the elephant? Well, it begins with this question – what makes a website profitable?
Well, here’s the shocker – it’s not how good the website looks and it’s not how much clever technology is rammed into the site. Neither of these, no matter how well executed, will have any major impact on your website’s profits.
So what is really at the heart of a successful website? …
And the answer is… Online Marketing.
The sad truth of the web design industry (and even some website consultants) is that very few truly understand the importance of online marketing let alone how to do it. (In fact, building a website isn’t “web design”, it’s “web marketing”!)
So, here are 3 areas to concentrate on to make your website runaway success.
They are;
1. getting traffic to the site;
2. increasing sales conversions from the site and;
3. analysing the results so you can improve the first two.
In order to help you get a handle on e-marketing I would like to give you access to a series of ideas, techniques and strategies which you can use to increase your website’s profitability. That way you’ll have a sense of how your web design company should be advising you
Here goes…
#1 – GETTING TRAFFIC TO THE SITE
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is often spoken about by web designers and if you’re not too familiar with what that means, let me explain.
It is a process of tweaks and adjustments which are made to the code and text of your website so that it rises up the natural listings. (The natural, or organic, listings are the ones you find down the left-hand side of Google.)
Search Engine Optimisation is very important. However, it can take 6-12 months before you see the results of your efforts (and you probably don’t want to wait that long for your website to become profitable). So, here’s the first online marketing tip to help you get relevant, qualified prospects to your website:
Join the Pay Per Click revolution!
This is so important I’ve prepared a FREE overview for you to access.
My three-part guide introduces you to Google Adwords and tells you exactly how to create a Google account, set up your Adwords campaigns plus I will personally reveal the hidden strategies to Adwords success.

#2 – TURNING TRAFFIC INTO QUALIFIED LEADS
Did you know that only 1% of people visiting websites leave their contact details? That’s a pretty horrific figure.
Flip it around and 99% of traffic is wasted! How many billions of pounds worth of potential sales do you think that is a year?
So that means if you build an ‘average’ website 99% of visitors who see it will never return!
What can you do to increase the number of leads/sales from your site? Well, in my professional capacity as a website consultant you’ll be pleased to know that there are lots of different approaches you can take. However, today I wanted to reveal just one – but it happens to be one of the most powerful techniques.
Here’s where you can find the article on How To Get Visitors To Leave Their Contact Details
#3 – TURNING ANALYSIS INTO CASH
Here’s the exciting news – almost none of your competitors will be taking advantage of the previous two leading edge marketing techniques and so I can almost guarantee they won’t be doing the last one.
You need to know what people are doing on your website so that you can improve it to maximise the number of sales you make. Web statistics software can help you do that by tracking the activity of visitors as they browse your web site.
For example, you may find that everybody visits one particular page or that one product always makes the sale. You may discover that a high proportion of people ‘bounce’ off your homepage (indicating that the homepage is either not what people expect or you’re attracting the wrong type of traffic).
Having access to that kind of information can make your website hundreds of times more effective but without it you’re flying blind.
How would you know what to change if you don’t know what’s working and what isn’t?
The great news is Google have developed an amazing system which gives you access everything that’s happening on your website. (It even integrates with the Google Adwords system.) And it doesn’t cost a penny!
Here’s where you can read all about and sign up to Google Analytics.
I’ve shown you some powerful techniques here to help increase your web profits but remember that this is just the tip of the iceberg.
When choosing your website consultant you will want them to demonstrate a clear understanding of online marketing so you can maximise the profits from your website so here are three questions to ask:
1. What is your experience in web marketing?
2. What marketing ideas do you have to increase the success of my website?
3. How will I get my return on investment?
